おもしろい・omosiroi = interesting/funny/good
You can use this to say:
- He is an interesting person.
- That movie is very funny.
- Her theory is very good/interesting.
"Omosiroi" is a very widely used expression. It covers everything interesting, amusing, funny, and good. Usually, you would know when someone says "Omosiroi", the person means "interesting", "funny", or "good". But sometimes, one asks "do you mean "funny" omosiroi or "interesting" omosiroi?" to clarify.
"Omosiroi" is a good praising word.

Comedy industry is huge in Japan. It's called "おわらい・OWARAI" which means "laugh". Popular comedians often appear on TV programs as commentators and hosts, not for their original comedy performances. It's so huge that the whole chapter can be dedicated to "おわらい・OWARAI".
